Understanding Leaky Gut & First Steps to Healing
- - - - X
Toxic gut is one of the most common forms or things that can cause leaky gut. And in the toxic gut there are two specific organs we really want to focus on supporting, and that is your liver and gallbladder. Your liver and gallbladder, in Chinese medicine, are organs that can be affected for those who experience emotions of frustration and anger and unforgiveness. And so, specifically, if you tend to get frustrated about things, that’s a big warning sign that you have liver and gallbladder issues. If your small intestine is overtaxed, over time that area of the small intestine will open up those tight junctions, causing inflammation of the small intestine, therefore causing a leaky gut. And then you’re going to have issues with gluten sensitivity and dairy sensitivities and all of these food issues over time. So it’s important if we really want to heal the cause of leaky gut that we really support the liver and gallbladder. The best foods for those with toxic gut are going to be those things like vegetable juices. So a great celery, carrot, cucumber juice with a shot of wheatgrass is absolutely fantastic. Foods specifically that support your organs of your liver and your gallbladder can include beets are great, artichokes are fantastic, also sour foods like sauerkraut and kimchi are great as well. Also drinking teas like dandelion tea or milk thistle tea, those are herbs that really support cleansing of the liver and gallbladder. Also, chlorella, cilantro, these things all help cleanse the body, support the liver, and that’s something you want to consider taking as well. I know if you can follow these dietary tips you’re going to see great results in overcoming toxic gut.
Now that you understand some of what is going on inside your body, I am going to teach you how to treat it through the right diet, mindful eating, stress reduction, the right supplements and herbs for you and so on. Please do us both a favor and keep a journal of your experience. Write every day about how you feel, what you had to eat and how you felt afterwards, and any other changes that occur. This way when we come together for our weekly call you can share these things with me and we can make adjustments accordingly, but also is great for you to physically see your progress.
