Whole Body & Brain Healing

Over the years I’ve worked with men, women and children of all ages and backgrounds.

While we all have a unique personal story that has led us to this point in our health journey,

I’ve found that we have more in common than we realize.

We all have the desire to live our best life.

The good news is, whole body and brain healing can be accomplished everyone - no matter where you begin. I’m here to help.

YOU ARE NOT YOUR LABEL

You have the power to write your own unique story of healing.

This is something I will never let you forget. (It’s something I wish someone would have told me when I was in the middle of my struggles with mental health and physical pain.)

✨You can’t put a label on your experiences.

✨Your mind is always evolving.

✨Your body is forever changing.

AREAS OF WISDOM

With a background in neuroscience, nutrition, mental health and wellness, movement, sensory processing and psychic intuitive gifts, the strategies I practice are based in science, education, magic and personal experience.

I work with my clients on unique areas of healing - all designed to help you transform from the inside out.

HEALTH CONCERNS I WORK WITH

ADD | ADHD

✨Do you have trouble keeping thoughts in your mind?

✨Do you struggle with impulse control issues?

✨Do you avoid tasks that require sustained emotional and cognitive effort?

✨Are you experiencing an attention type issue but want to get a handle on it without meds?

If you or a loved one has been “diagnosed” with ADD/ADHD and told it will be a lifelong struggle

I’m here to help!

ADD and ADHD are actually categorized as neurodevelopmental disorders. Using cognitive retraining, nutrition, sensory processing, brain based activities, self-regulation and exercise, I have helped many children and adults learn new techniques to transform their thought patterns and behaviors. We will use a science based natural approach to help improve your concentration, study skills, organization, time management, and your ability to interact socially or in the workplace.

Many times we can decrease or remove medications all together.

Alcohol & Addiction Recovery

The goal is wholeness, without using drugs or alcohol to change how you feel

Everyone's road to recovery (and healing) is different and unique. There isn’t one “right way” to complete the steps of recovery. Using the 12 Steps to Recovery as a guide, we dive into your own personal recovery from alcohol, substance, or any addictive pattern you wish to address. We work together to create a custom program that lovingly guides you (or your loved one) into setting and understanding boundaries, making changes through systematic stages, relapse prevention, and more. We utilize affirmations, daily actions, and discipline, and discuss topics like anger, shame, gratitude, and decision making.

Anxiety & Depression

Over time small changes turn into big transformations and results. We tackle your mental health concerns in a gentle way that is created for you and your unique needs.

Anxiety can be expressed through racing thoughts, fear holding you back, disruptive sleep patterns, nervousness, tension, worry, feelings of overwhelm, or sensitivity. It can leave you struggling to get out of bed in the morning, feeling like you have a cloud hanging over your head, or unable to enjoy the moment.

✨Did you know these thoughts and feelings could be related to hormonal imbalances?

✨Or even dehydration?

Together we look at nutrition, simple lifestyle changes, daily habits, mindful movement, thought patterns, accountability and resiliency training. We use techniques such as guided imagery, progressive muscle relaxation, mindful breathing and movement, nutrition, and safe supplements to reboot your senses.

Through a scientific & natural approach, we heal your neurotransmitters and your body.

Brain Injury & Neurological Changes

I use my trained expertise as a neurological specialist and rehabilitation specialist to help improve bilateral coordination, strength, fitness, arm and hand functions, fine motor control, pelvic floor issues, and home modifications. I’ll teach you results-driven brain training techniques and memory tools to improve long and short-term memory concerns. We will also address environmental changes that can impact your brain health.

Have you experienced a traumatic brain injury?

Have you been in a head-to-head collision?

Are you concerned about your brain or memory as you age?

Are you noticing neurological changes?

I have worked with patients who have suffered (and recovered) from stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, motor vehicle accidents, seizure disorders, and more. I’ve helped patients emerging from a coma, integrate back into the workforce. There are always ways to improve your brain health.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) impact nearly 3 million Americans every year. You don’t have to play contact sports to have a traumatic brain injury. They frequently occur from falls, car accidents and collisions, violence, workplace accidents, or even long-term exposure to chemicals. Common TBIs can cause problematic behaviors, cognition, communication, and sensory processing issues. You might experience symptoms of brain fog, confusion, or fatigue.

Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRB)

Many fear recovery is not possible, but I know (through my story) that anything is possible

BFRB refers to any repetitive self-grooming behaviors such as hair pulling (Trichotillomania), Skin Picking (Excoriation), or Nail biting (Onychophagia) that causes distress or interferes with daily functioning.

These behaviors are not bad habits or tics, they are a series of behaviors that can cause people of all ages to repeatedly touch their body in ways that result in physical pain and feelings of guilt, shame, embarrassment, and confusion.

We go beyond traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to include sensory processing, energy work, healing modalities. I create a sensory diet specific to your needs and focus on brain training, mindfulness, decreasing toxins, therapeutic movement, safe supplements, and more.

We work on concepts such as self-esteem, body image, self-acceptance, triggers, relapse prevention, and (much) more! Other common BFRBs include cheek and lip biting, scab eating, and other self-grooming behaviors.

*Treatment for BFRBs is a process and will likely require ongoing sessions. I encourage parents and family members to attend 1:1 sessions to help you support and accept your loved one.

Leaky Gut/Toxic Gut

I’ll teach you how to heal your gut through the diet changes, mindful eating, reducing stress, safe supplements, herbs, and more.

✨Did you know that gut health is linked to your immune system, mental health, autoimmune disease, endocrine disruptors, skin conditions, and even cancer?

We focus on rebooting your gut flora and transforming your neurotransmitters. Toxic gut is one of the most common causes of leaky gut. Through Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques we will work on supporting your liver and gallbladder (which can also impact emotions such as frustration, anger and forgiveness). We also address your small intestine, which if overtaxed, can cause inflammation, leaky gut, and lead to gluten, dairy and other food sensitivities over time.

Period Balancing

You may have been told that PMS symptoms like breast tenderness, extreme fatigue, pain, and extreme irritability is normal. Just because it is common for women to experience these issues, does not mean it is normal. Unbalanced hormones can impact your body and mind in too many ways to count.

✨Is your period irregular?

✨Extremely heavy?

✨Are you in pain every month?

Many times hormone issues are the cause of anxiety and depression!

There are natural solutions to regulate your menstrual cycles, and ease pain. I’ll teach you how to live in harmony with your cycle, regulate your hormones, and not let “that time of month” impact your life.

Sensory Processing & Integration

Are you a picky eater (or do you have a picky eater in your family)?

Do you avoid places due to loud noises?

Are you ‘sensitive’ to your surroundings?

Sensory Processing refers to your brain's ability to absorb, process, and balance information from the environment through your body. This process naturally happens through your central nervous system as you take in sensations from your skin, eyes, nose, tongue, inner ears, muscles, and joints. Sensory processing issues occur when you experience too much or too little stimulation. It can greatly impact everyday life.

Some common behavior patterns for someone struggling with sensory processing could include avoidance of sensations, events, and social interactions or obsessive-compulsive behaviors such as rigid routines, or producing loud sounds to block auditory irritations. This might also include Sensory Defensiveness, hypo or hyperarousal, or over/under stimulations.

Many times, sensory processing can be mis-diagnosed as ADHD, Anxiety, ADD, or Major Depressive Behavior.

Regardless of your “diagnosis,” we focus on the whole person and how to heal from the inside out.

My 9 year old son pulls his eyebrows. Dahlya has worked with him for the past nine months and we can see a big improvement in how he approaches himself and his feelings. Dahlya's key skill is in the very natural and easy way she approaches the conversation, customizing it to the age level and working in key techniques seamlessly. She brought a holistic approach to her work incorporating everything from diet to physical activity to gadgets and stimulating exercises and tools. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dahlya and thank her for the positive change she has helped to bring about for my son.

- TG’s mom

Dahlya has a heart for the power of healing that comes from experience rooted in her own struggles, hard fought battles, and disappointing failures, as well as a passion to grow and learn from every victory and failure. She shares these daily with women of all ages and backgrounds, parents, and special needs children, helping them navigate through similar journeys she has faced over the past 30 years. She has a GIFT for working with the most difficult of cases with empathy, research, knowledge and grace, knowing when to push but always empower to help each person find and realize the superhero inside themselves!

-Dahlya

I met Dahlya several years ago at a support group, I didn’t know it at the time but she would become a huge part of my health journey. I was suffering from anxiety, depression, PCOS, high cholesterol, and fatigue. After going to multiple doctors, counselors, and specialists I felt hopeless. Dahlya was vulnerable and told her story which was very similar to mine. She shared her knowledge and was able to put me in contact with others that suffered from the same conditions. She introduced me to Juice Plus and I feel better than I have in years! Dahlya has a big heart, is a wealth of knowledge, and I am proud to now call her a friend.
